The Gallery of Modern Art in Palermo hosted the Meeting of the NbS Italy Hub partners, with the Conference Room welcoming institutional greetings and the first discussions on NbS themes. Located in the heart of the city, the GAM is a perfect example of how art and culture can come together to reflect on issues of environmental and social relevance. With its elegant architecture and works of art decorating the spaces, it has created a stimulating atmosphere for discussion and discussion. The Botanical Garden of Palermo hosted the second day of the event, in an emblematic place where nature and science meet to promote knowledge and protection of biodiversity. Located a few steps from the historic center, this botanical garden offers a vast collection of rare plants and represents a perfect example of how the city can integrate with nature. The Lanza Room, located inside the Botanical Garden, hosted in-depth sessions and round tables on the topics of NbS policies, sustainable practices and training in the environmental field. On November 21st, the Urban Excursion began at Villa Niscemi, one of the most important historic residences in Palermo. The surrounding park, known as Parco della Favorita, is a site of great ecological and landscape value, and provided the ideal context for exploring nature-based solutions. Here, participants were able to closely explore the biodiversity and regeneration potential of the urban landscape, with particular focus on urban nature projects and conservation practices. The Favorita Park, with its large green space and variety of flora and fauna, represented the heart of the day of exploration. During the inspection, participants had the opportunity to observe and discuss ecological regeneration initiatives, while the Teatro della Verdura, with its particular outdoor location, offered an evocative setting for discussions on the connection between nature and culture. This section contains the resources and presentations shared during the event on November 20th. The presentations offer insights into the topics covered and the contributions of the speakers, providing useful material for a detailed analysis of nature-based solutions (NbS) and environmental policies.
