Green walls of Aldo Moro

The green wall on the left was constructed in 2017, while the one on the right was built in 2022 by the University in collaboration with Dual Green Company. The plant species on the two walls differ due to varying environmental conditions. One wall is exposed to direct sunlight, while the other is in the shade, which requires selecting plants suited to each specific condition

The project provides both environmental and social benefits.  Green walls are perceived positively by citizens and are a viable alternative for urban greenery through proper strategies.

Covering an area of 140 m², the walls house 34 plant species and over 3,400 individual plants. Peat and other additives are used to improve nutrient absorption, support healthy plant growth, and reduce the risk of disease. The walls are composed of modular units, each measuring 60 x 80 cm.

The University covers the costs for both the implementation and maintenance of the green walls, while the company is responsible for all maintenance tasks, including removing dead plants, trimming, and clearing dry leaves. For watering, a tank is installed at the top of the wall. The implementation cost was 250 euros per square meter, and the annual maintenance cost is 4,000 euros.
