The “Innovative approaches to forest conservation: bridging science, practice and communication” webinar will present four approaches to forest conservation, from the scientific, applied and communication perspectives. With Lorena Gomez (IRNASE-CSIC, Spanish National Research Centre) we will understand how the microbial diversity of both plants and soil can support healthy forests. Yildiray Lise (DKM Nature Conservation Centre – Türkiye) will present a Turkish approach in managed forests, and Serena Corezzola (DREAM Italia) will present the GoProForMED project, which aims to establish a transnational conservation strategy with close-to-nature models. Finally, with Leila Rossa Mouawad (American University of Beirut) we will discuss the power of communication in forestry and how it can be used to boost conservation effectiveness.

These webinars offer the opportunity to explore key questions for research, policy and practice in the weeks leading up to the event. Through these webinars, relevant discussion points will be identified for subsequent discussion during the 8MFW. This is your chance to join the discussion on forest adaptation, biodiversity, fires and green cities, in the context of the week’s global theme on sustainable and resilient Mediterranean forests.

The results of the webinars will be used, together with the results of the discussion during the plenary sessions and the content of the posters presented at the 8MFW. All webinars in this cycle will be recorded; If you can’t attend, you can always watch the recording to better prepare for the event!
