Oppla and Minecraft: Children in cali design sustainable Solutions for the city

Oppla recently organized a workshop in Cali, Colombia, during the UN COP16 Biodiversity Conference, in collaboration with the Humboldt Institute. Using Minecraft, children reimagined their city through nature-based solutions, such as green roofs, urban parks, and habitats for animals and insects. The initiative is part of the INTERLACE project, funded by the EU, aimed at restoring urban nature in Europe and Latin America. Minecraft, known for its ability to teach a variety of subjects, was chosen to engage children in a fun and creative environment where they could design sustainable solutions for their community. This approach combines traditional learning with digital technology, fostering teamwork and active participation in sustainability. The project has already been successful in several international cities, including Spain, Germany, and Colombia, and Oppla is ready to bring it to other locations as well.
