Invitation to public consultation on the draft Greening Cities action plan

The Greening Cities network of the Urban Agenda EU invites citizens, bodies and organizations to actively participate in the public consultation for the draft of the plan action of the urban agenda for the EU Greening Cities partnership

This public consultation represents a vital opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the future of communities. In particular, it is relevant in light of the European Union’s recent approval of the Natural Restoration Act, a historic measure that aims to reverse the loss of biodiversity and degradation of ecosystems in Europe.

The draft action plan presents five key actions to boost green infrastructure in EU cities and regions.

These actions focus on key issues, including the need for evidence-based planning tools, effective implementation strategies, strong legislative support, adequate funding and innovative financial instruments.

Developed by members of the Greening Cities Partnership, the action plan promotes the implementation of the EU political agenda for urban greening at local level, with the aim of increasing biodiversity urban, adapt to climate change and improve the well-being of citizens.

Participating in the consultation is a simple opportunity accessible to all: institutions, authorities, academic and research centers, companies, NGOs, experts and citizens are encouraged to share their knowledge and ideas in order to further enrich the proposed actions.

Once the public consultation is concluded, the partnership will integrate the feedback received into the final action plan which will be finalized in winter 2024.

The deadline to participate in the consultation is 11 July.
