Registration now open for the 6th NICE Cities Panel!

Purpose of the panel

NICE is a Horizon 2020 project aiming to develop Nature Based Solutions (NBS) for the Urban Water Cycle. Experimental NBS such as Green Walls, Rain Gardens and Constructed Wetlands are being tested for their effectiveness in cleaning different kinds of urban waste water. In this project, the Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SLU), lead by Dr. Neil Sang, is developing a software (NICER) that allows us to assess the effectiveness of NBS for contaminant removal. This assessment can be applied at multiple scales, from individual buildings to watershed catchments, enabling the evaluation of alternative designs for real world scenarios. NICER is a completely free and fully open source. It can be operated with a Microsoft XL interface and a QGIS interface. Combining both allows for preparing input from both spatial information and domestic  or commercial sources of effluent.

We encourage you to attend this panel because in this session you will gain knowledge and assess new opportunities. How?

Benefits by attending this panel

  • You will learn about the potential of NICER to be used to support you in assessing the NBS for your context (such as by decreasing pollutants in wastewater).
  • You have the opportunity to enroll in a user-testing program for free to try NICER for yourself and help you ensure that our software works well for your context.

Open to all interested and specially targeted towards:

  • Local and regional governments
  • National-level entities
  • International agencies involved in water management
